The ASNL Physical Art Troupe (PhArT) is a social circus program that enables participants of all ages to come together to learn the artistic aspects of circus performance while building the social skills that help us to be flexible, find balance, and be resilient in juggling the challenges that come our way. In PhArT, we explore what it means to be vulnerable through character mask work: The clown’s nose is the smallest mask, and when we explore the world as clowns, we explore what it means to be vulnerable as we remove our metaphorical, and physical masks in a safe space where collaboration is encouraged, and the creative expression is entirely participant-led. At the end of each semester, participants are expected to produce a performance piece that may be recorded or shared live with an audience.
ASNL’s Physical Art Troupe is offered free of charge to community members thanks to funding through Cirkaskina by Cirque Hors Piste
