The Transitions Program aims to identify the strengths and interests of participants as they take part in employment and meaningful community involvement beyond high school.
This program provides a full year of classroom learning, enriching community volunteerism, job shadowing, and onsite paid work experience to build the confidence, interests and resumes of participants. Participants are paired in groups of 3 and take part in the Transitions Program for 3 hours a day, 3 days a week. The program includes a 3-month onsite paid work experience (9 hours a week) from January-March with ASNL’s social enterprise The Pantry Café and Gardens as well as the opportunity to take part in WHIMS and Emergency First Aid trainings.
Transitions is designed for participants who are:
- 18+ years old
- comfortable working in small groups
- comfortable with a check-in style supervision ( 1 staff member supporting 3 participants)
- wanting to build their resumes though paid work placements, volunteerism and job specific trainings
- interested in connecting with peers who are also navigating the transition to adulthood
The Transitions Program is fully funded through the Department of Immigration, Population Growth and Skills, Government of NL.
Registration process takes place annually, late July into early August.
